Photoshop Tools

One of my favorite Photoshop tools is the Masking tool. I like it because it makes it easier to move part of an image to another picture rather than using the Quick Selection tool which takes up more time.
Another tool that I like is the Spot Healing Brush. It makes it easier to retouch images and take away any flaws that are present.

Elements and Principles of Design

Elements of Design

Lines mark a distance between two points and have length, direction, and width. Different types of lines are shown above.

Shapes are 2D and are made by connecting lines. In the first picture above, triangles, rectangles, squares, circles, and ovals are used to create a 2D design. In the second picture, the same shapes are used to make forms which are 3D.

Colors have properties called hues, intensity, and values. Hues are used to name the color, intensity describes its brightness or dullness, and values describe lightness or darkness. The color wheel shows a variety of basic colors.

Texture in art describes how something would feel if it were touched. The rocky surface above would be considered rough and hard and its crevices would be sharp.

Space is the area that a shape fills. Negative space is the space around an object or shape. Positive space is the actual shape or form.

Principles of Design

Rhythm is shown in the picture above because colors, lines, shapes, and textures are repeated. At the same time, balance is shown because the image is symmetrical. A pattern is also shown since the diamonds contain triangles within them which are repeated throughout the entire design.

Emphasis is shown in the painting above because the Cypress tree is bigger than everything else in the painting which makes our attention focus on the tree before anything else. The painting also shows unity in that textures are repeated throughout using the technique of impasto painting. The colors that are used also show unity since they look good when used together.

Proportion is shown in this painting since because the houses are painted relevant to the trees surrounding it.

The black and white in this picture contrast each other with their darkness and lightness and form a picture that is emphasized in the middle.

Variety is shown because of all that is going on at a single time. There are different shapes, colors, and contrasts which provide emphasis and different forms.
